Canoe the Ardeche!

Without doubt the most magical way to experience the Grand canyon of the Ardeche is to canoe the river.

Ray first canoed the gorge at the age of 15 and has been hooked ever since!

We are grabbing our paddles once again this year for a 32KM day trip.  Would you like to join us? If your up for an adventure you won't regret it.

With our partners at Les Ranchisses we are able to pull together a group booking for Thursday 30th July.

Price: 34€ per person including equipment hire and transportation to Chassiers (Les Ranchisses reception) and back (car parking @ the Auberge Les Ranchisses)

The canoes and coaches can get booked up a this time of year so we need to confirm final numbers 1 week in advance.

Deadline for final numbers is Wednesday 22nd July - Please reply to this e-mail me so I can keep track (if your interested)

Itinerary (all times approximate)

  • 8am - coach from Les Ranchisses, (Chassiers) to the launch site in Valon Pont D'arc
  • 8:45 - Safety briefing, life jackets and pack your barrel with belongings, sandwiches and water
  • 9am board the water and sail the gorge, ride the rapids, swim lots and experience the magic of this unique landscape
  • 6pm - Arrive at Sauze board the coach back to Chassiers

Here are some mini descents further up the river. But In the Ardeche there must be 50+ companies offering canoe hire.

Johnny and I were thinking of doing one of these last year:

  1. Any joy with sorting a single seater for old billy no mates? Happy to take a double seater if they think I can cope (I'm quite strong/fit!) but obv. don't want to pay for 2 when there's only me! Tried to get my mate involved who lives nearby but she's sold her house and gone to La Charbonne!!!! Shame x
